Good commentary on the recent "AI"-related troubles of this year's Worldcon. It remains a general rule that you should not trust Large Language Models to produce accurate information. They're not designed to produce accurate information. They're designed to produce statistically probable sentences.

I do understand people are concerned about the psychosocial aspects of verification, since I have my own thoughts about it. One thing I do find heartening is that Bluesky has been running verification via domain for two years now and no one's got notably weird or braggy about it. So we'll see!
