This morning, @mayoroliviachow.ca and #TTC chair Jamaal Myers introduced Mandeep Lali as the TTC's new CEO. Lali officially brings his 20-plus years of experience, including transit leadership roles in London and New York, to Toronto on July 7.

We've had reports that other companies on the waterfront are testing out sound cannons to keep seagulls off of their buildings.
As a result, we are turning ours off this weekend.
So, between later this afternoon and Monday morning, no sound cannons will be fired on the roof of the #TTC Leslie Barns.
March 18, 2025 WHEREAS today we recognize the hard work and dedicated efforts of transit operators and workers who are the backbone of Toronto’s transit system and keep Toronto moving everyday. Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day is celebrated on the date that the first transit system was launched in France, on March 18, 1662. Transit operators, mechanics, those who maintain subway infrastructure, customer service representatives and all transit workers play a critical role in connecting us to work, school, healthcare and other essential services. They work tirelessly, in challenging conditions, to ensure that our buses, streetcars and subways can operate and provide safe and reliable service to get people to and from their destinations each day. We owe a debt of gratitude to everyone who keeps the Toronto Transit Commission running. The City of Toronto is proud to recognize all transit workers who are committed to serving our communities. NOW THEREFORE, I, Mayor Olivia Chow, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim March 18, 2025 as “Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day” in the City of Toronto.

As we did last year, the #TTC is taking pre-emptive measures to prevent seagulls from nesting on the roof of our Leslie Barns facility.
The netting and sound cannons that worked well last year, will be in place again starting this week.

Please please please be mindful when parking on streets with streetcar tracks.
Between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. today (10 hours), we had 23 incidents of cars parking against snowbanks and blocking our streetcars, causing delays, diversions, and inconvenience for hundreds of customers.

If this happens you will be tagged and towed by the City as quickly as possible.
In the past three days, we've had hundreds of reports of cars blocking the tracks in this way.

Please be mindful of your distance from the tracks.
Parking against a snowbank could leave your car on our tracks, delaying streetcar service.

Tonight’s early 11 p.m. subway closure on #TTC Line 1 Yonge-University between Bloor-Yonge and Osgoode stations has been cancelled. Regular subway service will run.

Extra TTC employees and maintenance vehicles are deployed throughout the system spreading salt and clearing surfaces of snow, keeping signals, switches, and overhead power operating, and attending to any weather-related challenges. Check ttc.ca for the latest Live Service Alerts.
With heavy snow moving across the city, #TTC is implementing storm mitigation plans to keep customers and employees safe while delivering as much reliable service as possible.
Our crews have successfully rerailed a 506 Carlton streetcar and regular service has resumed. We thank our customers for putting their trust in the #TTC today. We love moving Toronto!
Thank you to our incredible #TTC workers who have kept Toronto moving today and continue to work and operate in challenging conditions left by the overnight snowstorm. All local bus stops are back in service and the Express Bus Network is running.
The #TTC 's winter weather plans are being rolled out in anticipation of heavy snow and the possibility of ice across the City. Details of the plan, including the locations of 56 bus stops on hilly roads that may be taken out of service to avoid severe service delays, are available at www.ttc.ca
Although Monday is a lighter travel day, we are deploying extra staff to monitor and manage potential crowding at the busy interchange stations.
As a convenience measure, you can take GO on a TTC fare from and to GO stations within the city limits if you need an option.
As a result, we currently have approximately 38 trains on the Line, 17 fewer than the scheduled 55 for this time of day. Barring any other disruptions, we estimate waits of up to six minutes instead of the usual three minutes.
This afternoon shortly before 2 p.m. we had an electrical fire at the #TTC Wilson Yard. As a result, power in the yard has been cut, impacting our ability to deploy our EXTRA service for the afternoon rush hour on Line 1.
Crews are working to make repairs.
Our plans to improve streetcar safety by stopping cars passing open doors take another step forward with the launch of a contract to develop camera-based enforcement solutions, working with BC-based Gatekeeper Systems.
