At a women in STEM event today, someone bemoaned the lack of women doing computer science. At tea, a young women who had left the AI/tech world told me this: “it’s just full of men lying about how good they are & constantly competing”. Just maybe the problem is with tech culture & not the women… 🤔

I'm no lawyer, but I think "we're going to keep stealing your stuff until you tell us you don't want us to steal your stuff" isn't quite the defense Grammarly thinks it is—at least not in the court of public opinion. I hope this company is sued into oblivion. I canceled my pro account today.

There seems to be a @support.bsky.team bug for adding alt text to an uploaded gif where the text area "disappears" when the keyboard opens up, at least on Android

Do people not just talk about things any more? Everything links to a substack or a system or something for sale. We’ve completely forgotten how to just share ideas and opinions. Everything doesn’t need to have a price tag

Today is MAR 10, aka Mario day. It is also extremely close to the spring equinox.
This implies a cycle of Wario Day (fall equinox), Luigi Day (summer solstice), and Waluigi Day (winter solstice).

When DOGE needed executive power it was USDS, a previously-excellent government tech shop that DOGE parasitized for this purpose. When it needed to avoid responsibility it was a vague "policy agenda" containing no real people.

They contain what now? And how did they get it, NYT? Hmm? How did they get all that information? Was it given to them, as a gift? OR.... OR....is there something else we should mention here and not wash away while you suck AI dick?

This is a good q from Levy, and Dorsey claims he wasn't paying attention to what was going on at the company at the time.
But I know of former employees who tweeted and messaged Dorsey about Musk's mockery. It's just interesting to watch Dorsey dodge any opportunity to hold Musk responsible.

We just published our new Decoder interview with Chris Cocks, the head of Hasbro. I asked him directly about how he thinks about author J.K. Rowling’s politics and what it’s done to the Harry Potter f...
cannot stress enough that "separate the art from the artist" was meant for private individuals reconciling the art they love with its flawed creators and not meant for the ceo of a company driving a dump truck of money up to a bigot's front porch

The inference costs are in addition to costs from training the models. Anthropic last month expected its costs for training its AI models for 2025 to be roughly $4.1 billion, up roughly 5% from its summer
projections. OpenAI, meanwhile, expected to spend $9.4 billion on compute for training its Al models last year.
Reports had previously said Anthropic made $4.5bn in 2025 on $2.79bn of inference and $4.1bn of training.
This would mean it made $500m total in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2026 so far combined.

An analysis of over 14 million social media posts from accounts in Canada found that 87% of conspiratorial claims come from just 100 influencers.
This minority of users impacts politics, influencing what people view as normal and leads to self-censoring to avoid attacks from conspiracy theorists.
