Where is that?

11.03.2026 20:05 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

A fault with a swing bridge over a river

39.40 onwards!!! It's superb.

I was wondering that but it's ScotRail, not Network rail so no stations with more than 8

I'll try and find it. I think "a boat hit a bridge" was another

Pretty sure they are all charlatans. I regular write letters saying "No your house isn't falling down, the insurers are talking crap" or "Your house is falling down, the insurers are talking crap", as the case may be.

Yes, latterly. Odd chap. Executed by the Republican side in the end. Murky.
At the time of writing a civil servant and pro British.

I know that song.

An rip-roaring tale of adventure, derring-do and skulduggery set around 1905. Also an interesting view of politics at the time and, apparently, a book which prompted defences on the East coast to be beefed up before WW1, for good reason.

Thank you. Have I raved to you about Riddle if the Sands?

Garve!!

Passed Harvey earlier. Nothing occurring.

WTF!!!

10.03.2026 14:59 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Fast paced too. Screeching hand brake turn parking.

10.03.2026 14:48 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

It doesn't happen *that* often in houses😐

Clearly a risk, but also they tend to be rather nice buildings! I live in one. Warmer and drier than plaster on masonry.

09.03.2026 15:42 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

It's probably not a party wall cavity issue - that's mostly modern buildings. But, Victorian buildings may e.g. have plasterwork on timber lathing and studs with a void to the masonry, so there are places for fire to lurk and spread. As it happens I saw singeing the other day in a house like this

Although, of course, "Russia" did cross my mind...

I think arson is unlikely. Any developer of this sort of site is going to be a large company. I can't see them risking serious criminal convictions for something that is quite likely to be detected. I also doubt they would start a fire in the shop next door, rather than the building itself.

They seems fine fortunately, but do you have any information on the huge roof trusses at Central Station? I couldn't see much on line and last night was thinking they were vulnerable, which would have caused utter, utter chaos

Sorry to hear about this. Our 12 year old Skoda Fabia has proved good so far, and I am tall. Worth looking at maybe

Just tried for a simple structural engineering problem. "I'm not a specialist. Can't do that" Honest, I suppose!

Fair enough they do seem to be registered. And I see they are registered as a company. May be legit but appearing from no where, making fairly wild claims post election and then silence is a bit concerning still to me.

Things that need inventing:

Dustpans which don't let stuff go underneath

Vacuum packed coffee which opens

New towels which behave like old towels.

Are we sure. They claim that on their webpage; is it confirmed by the Rowntree Foundation. I can't see any company number or charity number, which makes me sceptical

05.03.2026 08:28 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

If you are right, surely you wouldn't know if they were missing a trick?

Thanks. Interesting thread. How was Β£6,590 (average) arrived at? It seems a vast amount for having a phone removed, even if illegally.

Bernard's nice too!
