last time I was in Melbourne, I had to go for a swim at the Harold Holt Memorial Pool, nothing screams irony like a pool named after a drowned politician, and a facility designed by devotees of the Bauhaus movement - hello Australia!

oh now here's another thing I didn't know about the Mare of Easttown, I was looking at Winslet's daughter and though I know I've seen you before, and her name is Angourie, which could only be Australian and she is and she has done heaps and is exceptional in this...one to watch I'd say :)

just FYI there is going to be a new series of the Mare of Easttown before long, expect it will be on HBO, but I'm going to watch the first lot again to refresh my memory, it is very very good and Kate Winslet is extraordinary, as always...

I bought the Lion and the Cobra when it came out on vinyl, 1987, took it from the shop, unheard, to the public radio station where I was volunteering at the time and just stuck it on the turntable and said - listen to this...complete game changer...

I watched that as well, they were so bloody magnificent...

oh you just have to see it, based loosely around the death of Will and Agnes' son Hamnet and how they both dealt with the grief and absorbtion of pain in very different ways, based on Maggie O'Farrell's stunning novel and how the play of Hamlet emerged from it all, I was in complete awe...

the little things (which are never really little) are always the best.
