Our latest preprint from the lab is out now - www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
We show that reduced neural coding of temporal fine structure cues predicts increased listening effort during multi-talker speech perception. Feedback welcome.

Our latest article is now published as VOR in @elife.bsky.social . We examine contributions of cochlear neural degeneration and pupil-indexed listening effort on speech perception in noise - elifesciences.org/articles/102.... This is a cross-species study and a labor of love from many lab trainees.
Our article is now a part of a collection @natureportfolio.nature.com - www.nature.com/collections/.... Seems to be a cool set of papers. Looking forward to reading.
Excited to share our latest work, out now @jneurolang.bsky.social . We find "fuzzier" representations of phonemes in middle-aged adults despite normal hearing, driven in part by peripheral neural coding deficits. In collaboration with @soundbrainlab.bsky.social

β¨Thrilled to kick off 2025 by sharing our new paper, led by @abmongol.bsky.social, on how theΒ auditory systemβs encoding of precise timing cues (temporal fine structure)Β could benefit our day-to-day listening: www.pnas.org/eprint/IFCPF...
Excited to share our newest article , now in Scientific Reports @natureportfolio.bsky.social . Here we look at interactions between neural coding of temporal cues and pupil-indexed listening effort, and their combined effects on speech in noise intelligibility. - www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Excited to share our new JASA
@asa-news.bsky.social paper with @barbsc.bsky.social: "Impact of reduced spectral resolution on temporal-coherenceβbased source segregation" doi.org/10.1121/10.0...
Our reviewed preprint at eLife got picked up for an article in eLife Magazine -

Super excited to share the first preprint from my lab, looking at auditory cortical necessity and categorical learning. This one has been cooking for a while and has really set the stage for several other ongoing projects in the lab (stay tuned)! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
in collaboration with Satya Parida and Ed Bartlett. With support from an HRRP grant from the @deptofdefense.bsky.social . Out now in Comms Bio @natureportfolio.bsky.social .
The dAM EFRs offer a 5x time improvement and 30x spectrotemporal improvement over using discrete AM tokens. We can get robust high-SNR responses across four species tested (including humans). Data and code available for research purposes. feedback welcome!
Latest from our lab-we developed and validated a new EEG-based measure to assess neural representation of temporal envelope cues from the auditory pathway - the dynamic amplitude modulated envelope following response (dAM EFRs) - rdcu.be/d0mTl
