I was wrong about mineral rights in Venezuela yesterday. If they nationalized ownership of those rights in 1976, no wonder big oil is less interested in maintaining infrastructure there. If there’s not a way for big corporations to corner the right to profit from the resource itself, they’re out.

If you’re saying that you are invalidating the sovereignty of the nation where the extraction rights were allotted/assigned then you’re really just old school plundering. Which I guess is also consistent with broligarcically going to war without a legal mandate from congress. (3/3)
…doesn’t change who is legally entitled to extract the resource and profit from its extraction. So you can say “we’re taking over and we’re going to extract and make money” but I do wonder from the real property perspective who holds the oil and gas rights that are the treasure being discussed.(2/3)
So the thing about the argument that “we’re taking our oil infrastructure back” is that ownership of oil and gas rights go back to legally recorded grants of said rights. Recorded real property transfers. Invading a country and taking over infrastructure used to extract oil doesn’t change . .. (1/3)
