mmm depends on what its main function is?
drying your feet after bath/shower: towel
keeping feet warm & off tiles while drying off/brushing teeth: rug
that said i personally would not dry any other part of my body with a bath mat, but could put a bath mat in a different room (kitchen?) as a rug

construction to my left, demolition to my right
here i am, stuck in the middle wearing earphones all day until i get an ear infection
and yes i did do a cross-section: it's not just superficial - she's different on the inside too. So Quirky!
a pink bowl with pink grapes in it. one of the grapes is mostly pink, but one slice of it is white

Today and in the coming days, remember
A man carries a coffin with a skull on the front and spray painted on the side "we're here we're queer we hate the fucking president"
ACT UP, 1990
this is great, and i will be whispering to my houseplants as i water them today
(thanks for the reminder!)
It's incredible how accurately Shel Silverstein predicted AI decades ago
Something that's starting to really annoy me is headlines claiming that AI is "doing" things, like denying people healthcare or detaining sex workers at the border. No, people are still doing that, they're just using AI specifically to avoid being blamed for it
fatphobia is an outcropping of ableism. if you push a faphobe they always come up with the same thing: they claim being fat is unhealthy (ie that being fat will lead to a disability or early death)
this is just two ableisms in a trenchcoat
I really do not think the tactic I call Memento Disability does what folks who use it want it to do.
The idea is that if you tell people they need to care about Disabled folks now because one day they'll be those folks themselves, it'll resonate.
But I don't think it does that.
how we envisioned the dark future: you wear leather and buy brain stims from a small store in an alley. your wrist computer helps you hack
actual dark future: your $89 pants rip after 8 wears. adderall shortage. your wrist computer makes you stand up hourly and buzzes with email from your boss
This is your regular reminder if you have paid sick days & you are sick, use your sick days!
Do not work from home, thatβs working - not resting. You need rest to aid recovery from any infectious disease.
you can sum this essay up as βi just want to live a life free of civic responsibility, insulated from any meaningful trouble by my wealthβ
'how far the light reaches: a life in ten sea creatures' is so good! go read it & then vote for it! love love how sabrina imbler shows the parallels between the natures of sea beasties and humans, how we dehumanise people & animals in science, and the writing, how everything intertwines π€©π€―
It's a lie that trans people's visibility is new--we've been the focus of fascination, humiliation, and demonization for the entire history of mass media. What social media changes is who was writing the story and whose voices were heard. It's not our existence they abhor; it's our dignity.
oooo this is cool!
they should invent a body that forgets the score
just adding that publishersforpalestine.org have collected some works on their website (poetry, fic & non-fic in nine languages) that are available to read for free this week. (though do buy if you are able!)
Every generation gets a bunch of lectures about how women are selfish and destroying American families, young people are overly-sensitive narcissists, and nobody wants to work anymore from a class of out of touch pundits uninterested in analyzing power or inequality.

If humans could fly, I think some of us would. But it probably takes the same amount of energy as running. So realistically, I think most of us would end up like pigeons & loiter outside of convenience stores instead of flying across the country.

"Your mother dies and people place
their black origami in your palm."
People on benefits aren't negatively affecting your life in the slightest Your life sucks because of the rich, and blaming people on benefits is exactly what they want you to do
It seems this place needs a reminder too.
