... and to wrap it all up? Our launch editor @bowmanspartan.bsky.social offers some insights on the founding of the journal, following the 75 years of Journal of Communication and reflecting on those lessons for GPC: academic.oup.com/gpc/article/...

From China to the world: a postcolonial technoscience analysis of TikTok's global growth
This article traces TikTokβs rise from China to the globe, offering an alternative narrative of platform globalization through a postcolonial technoscience
We'll do some more detailed follow-up a bit later, but in our first collection you'll see:
Liu and Xiao helping us understand TikTok from a postcolonial technoscience framework, especially as a massively influential non-Western platform.

About nine months ago, we asked ourselves "what does it mean to be Global in the 21st Century?"
We pondered this with @icahdq.bsky.social and @academic.oup.com and the end result? Volume 1, Issue 1 of Global Perspectives in Communication.

We're thrilled to be the newest @icahdq.bsky.social journal and we're so very happy to have the support of @academic.oup.com along the way.
And of course ... we're eager to see our first issue in nine days. Hopefully, you're as eager as we are. =)

Of course, sometimes manuscripts are a bit slower in review - we've fortunately had only 4 take more than 91 days. If it's any consolation? One was a revision and the other was invited back. That just means we're baking them "just right." =)

Our review times are very, very quick - at least, we think so.
* Our "average days from submission to first decision" is right around 20 days.
* It takes us ~ 3 to 5 days to assign reviewers to a manuscript.
* Desk rejections are very swift, and only one has taken more than seven days!

Our acceptance rate is just a hair over 20%.
That's paired quite nicely with a desk rejection rate that hovers around 60%.
But the neat thing? Our desk rejects come with *extensive feedback* and an encouragement to resubmit - and several of y'all have taken us up on that.

We've had 74 submissions since our mid-2025 launch, and that number is trending upwards. For 2026, we're currently on pace to double that one ... or even more? That's up to you. =)
NOTE: Numbers below are rough (as they'll change as soon as we post this).

A question we often get, "is it okay if our data comes from the United States?"
Absolutely. For us, "Global" means "everywhere." Ours is an inclusive journal looking for work that speaks to communication scholarship from everywhere.
Our hope? Work from all perspectives is side-by-side at GPC. =)
