A young black woman with short wavy hair is wearing a print dress. She stands before an old bookmobile which is black and had "Greenville County Library" written on it in white lettering. The bookmobile is parked in front of a brick building.
Annie McPheeters was a bookmobile librarian and later managed segregated libraries in Atlanta where she ran adult education programs for Black patrons especially surrounding civics and voting. She campaigned for library desegregation. #BlackHistoryMonth

Senior CTE student built me a return cart by repurposing an old AV stand. WIN!
A2: when I was a campus librarian, my students would have called the library the room of requirement. It was for quiet study or reading, making, games, karaoke, guest speakers, lessons, technology help, tutoring, events, oh, and books!

A3: I set up a 3D printer in the library window & always had something printing. It brought in curious students and I was able to give them books about additive manufacturing π

Librarians and other educators have essential duties to step up & address the issue any time we believe a child is being harmed. This includes being harmed by AI, and make no mistake, it is harming not only our students, but also our adults, and our society.
βEverybodyβs scared, everybodyβs nervous. ... Our staff of color are carrying all their papers just in case. ...
Never did I think that would be something that I would ever have to say. .. Iβm sadβin disbelief and just so angry that our staff and our students are going through this.β
There are more public libraries nationwide than there are Starbucks or McDonalds, and while they donβt have the reputation for being everywhere that those stores enjoy, public libraries remain as a valuable resource that can turn an interest into a full-blown passion.
@crow.house.gov I know you're going to support this, because you have always been amazing for freedom & for our kids. Thank you so much for your tireless service!

"Reclaiming teacher time with AI". Time for what? In the era of shrinking enrollment, be prepared for other duties as assigned, more students added to rosters, and fewer educational support personnel. Be very careful what you wish for; you just might get it.
Great example of failing forward and growth mindset.

Every day, write over a βspotlightβ as a bellringer. They study the text, write nonstop for 5 minutes, then share their ideas in small groups. Itβs an incredible collegiate-level bellringer activity that ensures every student reads, writes, and speaks every class.

I got away from qr codes because of the throng approaching the screen, unable to get their cameras to focus. Even huge QR codes don't always work because of device settings. Shortened URLs are easy to type for most, & take up less real estate. Also, I put them on more than just the 1st slide.
