When you put it like that, it really highlights how factually accurate the last 2 season of South Park was

They really are teetering on putting out the male and female body proportions Oda loves to draw with this show
Yeah I know. Kind of goes without saying given how casual the source material is when it comes to gender noncomformity
Upon watching season 2 of One Piece I really appreciate how much the special effects really branch out from not just CGI and make up but also puppeteering, some use of stop motion animation and mocap.
Really just using all the different effects tools in making the series possible
Wait I thought that would be Netflix JoJo who ask that question, especially during Steel Ball Run
The Robo-ABs certainly help
Dude Iβm in my 30s as well and its literally the reverse. Especially in the 90s and 2000s when (believe it or not) anime was somehow deemed a niche media.
Simply put: its really bad faith to say western animation is more niche than anime when in reality they are about the same in relevancy
Pedantic means overcomplicating things, which is what you are doing with acting like somehow DBZ anime is more popular than ant of Spider-Man when its literally debunked back in 1967
4Chan ainβt the reason why people know of the show, little bro. Might as well say that place is the reason why everybody knows about anime thanks to /b/
No everyone does, including people who did actually grew up with or actually watch it (like myself).
Thatβs kind of shows how integral the cartoon is in pop culture as people who donβt know will recognize it which is why I used that example.
Hell if I had the chance I will also use Batman 1966
Bro I donβt think you know what pendantic is considering the level of Mental Gymnastics you have to go through to justify how much DBZ is more popular than fucking Spider-Man, lol
I mean you did got baited sooo
EZ
1) I said Dragon Ball (as in the franchise as a whole)
2) You were the one who who brought up DBZ in the conversation about animes more people know about
3) The DB franchise has have multiple continuation and remasters to the point where its not only apply to old heads (like Astro Boy or Devilman)
Well see ya in 20 to 30 minutes for the next goal post, lol
Dude majority of people recognize (and was first introduced to) Spider-Man FROM his cartoons.
It ainβt the hard either.
Dude, cβmon, this whole thing is starting to sound like those bad faith arguments people make on how Superman (2025) is a failure of movie because it doesnβt exceed at the box office as Man of Steel
Dude, quit projecting on whose the unserious person here.
Literally a lot more people under 40 will recognize Spider-Man and his cartoons instantly than the more popular animes.
I mean the kids I work with will recognize a Spider-Man cartoon before they identity Dragon Ball.
So weβre gaslighting ourselves here regarding the history of animation, how western cartoons played a major influence in the creation of anime and the cultural impact that it plays on the collective minds worldwide.
Okay buddy. Whatever validates your bias
Western animation is a niche market? Lolwut
Wait I thought we were talking about how general audience are more familiar with the animated depictions as their introduction than the films rather than how comics are niche market?
Besides, I doubt how esoteric the medium is negates key tropes of the character/story being carried over into
Yeah, calling cap on this. Especially given how literally the foundation of said characters popularity originated from a lot of his animated ans video game appearances (all of which does have him be witty).
Plus, the Raimi Spide-Man do make a lot of memorable bangers. Case in point with THAT meme
But general audience are more familiar with (and introduced to) the one from the 94 cartoon who is a lot more quipy. Ditto for Spectacular. Actually, come to think of it the Raimi movies have Spider-Man deliver a bunch of zingers.
Thatβs a consistent thing with the character
Yeah like Death Note and Cowboy Bebop shouldnβt on paper be hard to adapt given the latter could have easily used stuff by Ridley Scott as a template and the former HAD a well made live action adaptation in the past (BEFORE the anime exist).
Yet somehow its Popeye The Movie 2.0 that worked
Eo canβt I just say that the whole fight at Whiskey Peak reminds me of one of my favorite action scenes from The Matrix Reloaded.
Seriously Zoro was straight up Neo taking on those Baroque Works bounty hunters
youtu.be/uXGE0vuuaDo?...
IKR,
Like knowing the track record of live action anime adaptations compare to video games and comics, and Netflix stigma when it comes to doing these things; it really is a major outlier in how peak this show currently is
Yeah its kind of like when David Productions adapted JoJoβs Bizarre Adventures with the whole benefit of having all 7 parts already finished.
They just incorporate a lot of new scenes and foreshadow moments that help elevates a story payoff that long time fans of the manga will enjoy
Yeah this honestly is the same reaction I had with the second season of Twisted Metal.
I really find it amusing how both these adaptations of otherwise hard to adapt properties due to their respective ridiculous premise and tones end up being the best shows to come out in recent years
the characters due to how its more popular than the comics its based on.
I donβt know, this isnβt really a good take to view an adaptation of a work as a replacement of the source material.
Like the live action One Piece can really be viewed as an alternate interpretation to the anime, and the films based on Marvel Comics didnβt really become the definite takes on
