There is also a lot of discourse about whether or not the villain perpetrates some problematic stereotypes. And while I don't think they were intentional on Creggar's part, those critiques are not invalid.
So ultimately I don't think it was a bad film. It was a fun time. It just was marketed poorly and I think some people will be let down.
Was i disappointed? Sure. But I still had a blast. Lot of laughs, though some were unintentional. For instance the product placement in this film was so egregious that it made my friend and I cattle every time it happened. But get your coin I guess.
I've been ruminating on the movie weapons since I saw it and this is where i've landed. When I saw the trailer I was expecting something kind of elevated with certain themes and very scary. That ended up
Not being the case. What we got was something very broad, campy with only a couple creepy shots.
This weekend we celebrated my bestie's impending nuptials at a cabin and had dinner at the adjacent lodge.
We come through the lobby, the girl behind the front desk asks why shes wearing a black veil, tiara and sash that said "Bride or Die".
I replied "Because we're Goth and annoying."
Ya know what's weirder than collecting Labubus? Being mad at people for collecting Labubus. It's the end times, just let people enjoy things, cripes.
Me: "Aw Peanut looks so cu-"
Dotty: "EXCUSE ME?"
Idk I'm very priveleged, I know this. I paid out the ASS to avoid the crowd & avoid the wait & for guaranteed good parking. And I know not everyone can afford to do what I did. But if you're not willing to plan ahead etc. you can't turn around & bitch & moan that you didn't have a cushy experience.
Like one guy made a post complaining that his car got towed. Said he even EMAILED THE BAND TO TELL THEM ABOUT IT. Further on in the thread we come to find out OP parked at Costco across the street and then had the audacity to bitch that he got towed. What an idiot.
Went to a concert last night, had a blast. Went on the band's subreddit to see if anyone was talking about the show. Multiple posts of people complaining about the crowd etc. I have anxiety, I pass out in crowds, I totally get it. But also... have none of you people been to a concert before?
What the fuck is wrong with my brain? What an absolutely insane and WILDLY specific dream! 4/4
As I'm watching all this super confused I google it & discover it's a film called Cindercravenella, a dark psychosexual drama made mostly out of unused Clueless footage. Just a lot of Paul Rudd & Dan Hedaya looking concerned then a scene of knock-off Cher/SMG giving a handy to a drug dealer, etc.3/4
And then there would be random scenes cut in, really dark, gritty, explicit scenes, but instead of Alicia Silverstone, it was Sarah Michelle Gellar. Like they cast her to be the same character for additional footage and just assumed no one would notice?? 2/?
Just has the weirdest dream where I was channel surfing late at night when I stopped on what looked to be the film Clueless. But as I'm watching it's all scenes I recognize but dialouge and ADR that I don't. Like it was entirely composed of deleted scenes. 1/?
Mood
Happy World Goth Day!
In the kind of mood that makes me want to start indiscriminately swingin a sock full of nickels.
My loot:
I just saw a tiktok discussing whether or not it's a good idea to date a straight musical theater guy. The caption said "Girl he learned to lie from Sanford Meisner, be serious" and I snorted my drink out my nose ๐
The assumption that being queer and voluntarily child free means that you have to HATE all children and parents is ludicrous.
I didn't share pictures, I didn't name the library, I just mentioned it in passing because I thought it was a super cute idea. I got crucified.
I can't stop thinking of the very silly thing that was the final straw for me when I left a toxic place:
I mentioned that the library my friend worked at was holding a Baby Prom - a cute little afternoon event for babies & their guardians to get dressed up & come play & dance together.
IM AWARE HOW DOUCHEY THAT SOUNDS. That's not a humble brag, genuinely, it's fucking annoying to always watch something and know what's gonna happen.
Anyone ever feel like their very advanced media literacy is actually a bit of a buzz kill sometimes? Like I'm watching a mystery mini series and I solved it almost immediately. Now im disappointed and bored.
OKAY HEAR ME OUT. There is something very inadvertently queer about Edward & Bella. It's hard to explain, it's just a vibe. Like Bella in the sexually aggressive one with a pick up truck and flannel. And Edward is so delicate and romantic and reserved. It's such fun garbage, I love it ๐
I AM AN INDOOR CAT! I AM BOUGIE! I AM FRAGILE! I DO NOT DREAM OF LABOR! Also the world is on fire, my emails and spreadsheets ESPECIALLY pointless rn, ngl.
I have worked like 6 or so hours overtime this week. I'm so soft. That's not even an entire day and I feel like I'm going to fkin DIE lol
