It was a word we were proud of, a word that held us together, even though some of us were beyond "girls" when it came to age. Reen, of course, but all sorts of others. Still, there were so many of us that were younger. Me. Angelika, Rebekkah, Paolina, Rachele. So many of us that were not even twenty yet. And how else would we call ourselves" Wasn't men that were filling those great sewing rooms, was it? It wasn't. Wasn't at all.

TO SEE THE STARS is a powerful coming-of-age story that follows a young girl from outport Newfoundland as she finds her voice amid the early workers' rights movement in 1900's New York.

A moving tribute to the women of that era, and a great read for #InternationalWomensDay.
