New instrument! Having lots of fun, already figured out how to play a semi-decent version of “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive”

Pastor, parent, partner living that homestead-ish life and talking about random life things, churchy stuff, lefty politics, organic-ish gardening, chicken ranchin’, books, nerdy animated fandoms, music, and whisky. He/him

I grew up in southeast Texas, so KotH was always both deeply funny AND practically a documentary of life on my block.
I would watch this religiously
Starman!
OMG Liz Truss has a WaPo op-ed about how “the elites killed (her) pro-growth agenda” and Trump can’t let “them” stop him, too.
I don’t even know where to start with this, but this is a good beginning:
Katara is a muted tortoiseshell calico. She is reposed on top of a blanket lying on a patio chair
Suki is a mostly white calico, seen sitting upright on a red sofa
Aang is a tuxedo cat seen here hanging out with me in my recliner
Meet the ATLA Cats - Katara, Suki, and Aang!
For $50, that scoop had better be fully automated and have a programmable timer…
A ruby throated hummingbird faces the camera while sitting on a wire garden fence
I had the coolest experience earlier while watering the garden. This little fella came and was flying in and out of the water stream repeatedly, then landed on the fence and hung out for a few minutes before flying away.
Today is the day we unfollow and mute folks who are turning my feed into a constant stream of arguing and negativity…even people I agree with 90%+ of the time. My mind’s garden grows enough weeds on its own; I don’t need more bad seed sown into it.
Lipton’s comment has big “Corruption only comes from the Corrupt region of France; otherwise, it’s just sparkling conflict-of-interest” energy.
Heard the first whippoorwill of the year! Beautiful late spring evening here in the Driftless.
I lived around University and 54th Place (seminary housing) for three years. It’ll always be one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city!
Long may Pope Leo the Purrteenth reign!
Can’t wait for MTG to push legislation to ban drag queen story hour at the Library of Congress!
Will anyone think of those poor Gestapo agents?
My honest question for everyone who’s advocating for this: Have you ever read a book about the Partition of India?
She legally qualifies as an open container in several states
I was gonna go with gravy bread and Old Style, but this will work. The means of grace are vast and abundant in the 312!
Springtime in Wisconsin in its full glory - a brightly colored yellow-orange Baltimore oriole is sitting among apple blossoms as it sits in our Linda Mac apple tree. A second oriole is barely visible on a nearby branch.
Orioles are back! Two of them were hanging out in one of our apple trees yesterday morning…gives me joy, and God knows I need a source of it these days.
I’ve been doing tai chi and qi gong for a few years now and, at 40, I feel better and more fit than I did at 20. Even more, it’s taught me feel at home in my body - like it’s an integral part of me, not just the flesh suit carrying “the real me” around inside it.
A strawberry, blueberry, and rhubarb cobbler fresh from the oven - golden brown and still bubbling
Cobbler, anyone?
Susan Collins is truly as useful as t*ts on a hoe handle (to quote my dad)
She’s been an absolute inspiration; so many thanks to her for all of her courageous work, and to you for supporting her and helping let the world know that compassion, decency, boldness, and integrity can still win the day - even in deep red places! Enjoy your time together!
This is exactly the kind of nerdy niche humor I come looking for on the interwebs
I went on a high school trip to France back in the day and joked about how the nuns sewing it probably snuck in a bunch of secret dirty stuff. My classmates rolled their eyes and said that was ridiculous. The next day we went to Bayeux and I have never felt so vindicated in my life.
Good thing I didn’t spend the last four years serving a church where the person across the street was displaying a “Fuck Biden” flag 24/7 or anything…
Hopped on here to ask the same thing!
Just finished The Reformatory by @tananarivedue.bsky.social
Absolutely STUNNING - powerful, deeply moving, and absolutely gripping…nearly impossible to put down in the second half.
I’d gladly eat this anytime…it’s now on the permanent “quick, healthy, delicious light meal/side” roster since I usually have all the ingredients on hand.
