If mum is vaccinated, baby will have some antibodies from her. It’s so hard now to offer advice without feeling like you’re coming from a different reality- I gave up talking to my family in the UK about masks etc as they just don’t get it.

This was very local to me and I then worked in the police unit that was set up afterwards. He certainly gets no sympathy from me.
At least you’re stuck in the best place 😁
Beautiful gardens - you’ve picked some good weather to be here. Do you have 10 extra days in Pōneke (Wellington) or are you getting some more travelling in?
I just watched this on FB. He’s excellent and yes, NZ Labour need to take note.
It is fabulous down that way. Glad you are enjoying some amazing views.
It’s definitely been the longest duration of high winds the I’ve known- haven’t been here forever though but it’s the worst I’ve known. We’re on top of a hill in Korokoro- nothing between us and the Cook Strait. No damage thankfully but lost a couple of tree ferns which is sad.
*there is
Definitely the MTG Museum - well worth a visit. Art Deco Napier does guided tours which are very good or Ty errs a self guided version. Have done both and gained a lot from the guide- iSite would have details. Stay safe and what a time to be here 😬🌧️💨💨
Can thoroughly recommend it 😁 Finished work on December 19, and I go back January 20. Only drawback is that I have absolutely zero inclination to go back to work; next holiday is already booked in for 8 weeks time though, so already counting down to that one.
15/20. The AoNZ specific ones did for me, being an incomer.
One of the reasons why I go so hard on science misinformation/disinformation, is that as a working scientist it is frustrating to see your research misreported to push an agenda.
For example, consider this piece of right-wing propaganda from The Telegraph that was just published
The ONLY reason you stop people from voting is because you fear their vote.
Let's make them shit their y-fronts & get everyone enrolled super early, as your friends & family, and they can ask their friends & so on.
Roland and Susan from 70s era Grange Hill
“Roland!” Every of a certain generation can only hear that said one way.
A view out over Wellington harbour. A pōhutakawa on the foreground, just beginning to show red blooms. Sky is grey and cloudy - a beautiful view but not really the sunshine I was hoping for.
Mahi done until 20 January. Was going to enjoy a glass of wine in the sun on the deck, then remembered that I live in Pito-One so coffee and a mince pie it is, inside in the warm.
This is slightly bonkers but looks great.
If you look at the beak, definitely looks to be hoiho. Possibly a juvenile which have paler head. I’ll add I’m no expert, but I’m going with hoiho.
That looks to be a hoiho - lucky you as they are endangered www.nzbirdsonline.org.nz/species/yell...
Nice to hear - Fraser at Woodward Optical has also masked when he saw my mask.
It is not easy being COVID cautious. It's crap not joining in social events. It isn't enjoyable being the only person masking. It is tough keeping quiet when being patronised by people with zero knowledge. It is all EXHAUSTING. Solidarity to everyone prepared to listen to science & put others first

Careful now, you don’t want to get carried away by the festivities. This is the extent of our decorations - came from Jenners many moons ago.
I’m on -7.5 and my multifocal contact lenses are no longer cutting it. I feel your pain 👓👓👓
Because it is. Ask any Māori.
I have this dress - it’s very nice. Would recommend 😁
A happy wee turtle wearing a pink knitted bonnet that ties under the chin.
I’ve donated to Hills Hats PledgeMe and one of the gifts is a 40% off voucher. I’m hoping they’ll have something like this. www.pledgeme.co.nz/projects/869...
Yep, much the same. I didn’t have one done for 15 years, and then only under GA. Self swab is an absolute game changer.
If it was left to me, we’d probably just have toast for every meal, so I leave it on the more expert hands of Mr S.
We rarely throw away food, mainly because @keithshering.bsky.social is a brilliant menu planner and shopper. I hate the thought of spending and then wasting all that money; as a child we sure couldn’t afford to be throwing food out.
Beautiful - love the yellow flowers.
