i’ve come to believe that we will never solve the literacy crisis by talking about reading as “watering the garden of your mind” or whatever. books are, and have always been, the favored medium of God’s purest freaks and degenerates. Reading isn’t a salad. If you’re doing it right, it’s a vice.

My whole family was awake unusually early this morning and the real problem with this is that they turned on all the lights. Why would they do that. Early morning hours are for sitting in the dark with coffee, silently contemplating the horrors of existence.

As an English teacher, WH is interesting because of the ways that it shows *generational* trauma - it's much more of a portrait of unhappy families rather than a love story between two people (which is how the new movie is presented). Jane Eyre has some of that but not as much.
Nah. Probably due to some combo of
1. spices aren't manly
2. flavor will make them gay
3. Spices are ethnic (because we all know it is pale skinned people doing this)
