This statement made me think a lot more about the experiences of Black women in journalism and small media. And how I don’t know if enough of us make space for understanding those things.
Cats are strange and lovable creatures. I think my family’s cats are kind of indifferent to storms. My cat doesn’t care much lol. But loud sounds maybe causes more of a reaction. I don’t know if she reacts much to thunderclaps though. She hides more from ppl than nature.
The Triibe just posted a statement on their IG. So much to process about the news today. And sad overall b/c we need Black journalists and Black-led media.
Not hide but curiously stared towards the ceiling and peered outside windows. She doesn’t mind rain but I think the hail startled her.
yikes that's pretty careless
Rather not share it on here but it comes up with the key words above.
wow hadn't heard about that piece on CTA policing and Jesse Jackson. Made the mistake of looking it up. I have a lot of questions now if the campaign feels in alignment with those ideas.
My algorithm been showing me RBD videos. I'm not mad about it.
Very aggressive hail. I was struck by the loud noise, sounded bigger than they appeared.
They’re big! And are loud as they fall.
Hail storm beginning in Chicago. My cat is confused at the loud thuds.
"He says Border Patrol agents punched him several times as they dragged him to a van. The agents didn’t know his name, didn’t show him a warrant and had no reason to stop him, he says. Video of his arrest circulated on social media."
"The afternoon of his arrest, Gonzalez-Jasso says, he and his friends were having a birthday party at Jacaranda, a bar on 26th Street. He stepped out to buy a pack of cigarettes. That’s when Border Patrol agents arrested him."
"At a press conference in Hayward, Rep. Eric Swalwell said his staff was able to deliver hearing aids to the 6-year-old child, who is deaf and was deported without the necessary medical hearing devices."
“We were told at every point that the family was at a different location, and even up to last night when I spoke with ICE, they told me a different location than where they actually were,” he told reporters last week."
"ICE has bought at least seven facilities so far, some of which are projected to hold thousands of people. One warehouse in an Arizona town is the size of seven football fields. The new facilities are slated to be up and running by November."
This reminds me of the "free speech zone" established outside the Broadview ICE facility during the ICE surge in the fall.
"Maria de Jesus Estrada Juarez lived in California for 27 years before being detained at her green card interview last month and deported within 24 hours, despite having active DACA protection and no criminal history. Her story was first reported by the Sacramento Bee."

The advent of cameras in front of each home has been astounding, the way it’s been sold as safety. Safety is individual surveillance. But I seldom hear stories of the cameras being instrumental to preventing violence or crime. Perhaps shows us who to potentially blame but not preventative.
"Each person plucked from their day-to-day existence left a whole life behind. There are shoes by the front door and an empty bed. There’s a car in the driveway and a job undone. There are pets that need feeding, bills that keep arriving and leases with months left to pay."
The governor of Alabama has granted clemency to Charles Burton, who was set to be executed this Thursday for a murder he did not commit.
He was part of a 1991 group robbery in which one of his accomplices fatally shot a man, unbeknownst to Burton, who had already left the store.
So sad seeing more news reports of pets being abandoned by their owners in Dubai. Poor animals.
