One of the heroes in my anti-fascist sci-fi dystopia, THE UNVEILING, is non-binary. In the UK too we are seeing erosion of trans rights (and actually all human rights) as the world becomes ever more divisive. Resistance through art is the least I can do as a writer!

But I talked with many Trans friends, and it’s so much worse. They are in fear for their lives.

Today we said goodbye to a truly beautiful man, our neighbour, the talented, stylish, intelligent and funny artist, Justin Hawkes. Justin brought so much joy to those who knew him. My family will miss him so very much. We love you Justin.

THE UNVEILING (on GlobalComix) uses multiple artists across the series so that readers can enjoy comparing a variety of styles. It was therefore essential to design easily recognizable characters. I think we achieved that; with perhaps no better example than the central villain, Carnonos!
