As the marchers attempted to peacefully walk from Selma to Montgomery. This was the first of three (3) attempts that month by these peaceful activists to march the 54 mile trek to the state capital to protest racial violence and voter discrimination…

Today marks the 60th anniversary of “Bloody Sunday,” a march held in Selma, Alabama on March 7, 1965, where unarmed civil rights protesters were brutally beaten and sprayed with tear gas by law enforcement officers on the Edmund Pettus Bridge…
