A newly-eclosed Orange monarch butterfly, emerging from its pupa on 2/16/25, after a 30-day pupation - much longer than the typical 12-day period.

I had given up hope that this beauty would ever eclose, as it pupated back on 1/17 - 30 days ago!! I guess it was just waiting for a warm sunny day! #monarch #butterflies #California
