There is one I've looked up before nearby, it would be tempting to learn how to use one! I only want to do simple straight lines I think so probably an easy one to start with.

Start of a new quilting project - I have 7 colourways, each with 3 variations, and making 3 blocks of each variation. Adding sashing as well to make a full king size 100 inch quilt with double layered batting, no idea where I'll lay it out to make the sandwich or how I'll fit it through my machine ๐Ÿ˜‚

If you're doomscrolling, guess what? So far there are 51 kฤkฤpล chicks hatched and thriving this season, the same number of birds as we had in TOTAL in the 90s! Only one chick has died and there are still fertile eggs waiting to hatch!

Culture and Leisure at Risk, Glasgow 2026 - eblknd

Someone has compiled a list of cultural spaces in Glasgow that have closed this year. It's embarrasing and really highlights how badly the city is failing arts & culture. eblknd.leaflet.pub/3mg6akzx3n22l

Me: I have so many hobbies and things I like to do that I can't fit it all in which makes me sad!

Also me: oh look a full weekend course covering using a film SLR all the way to darkroom development, I've never done proper photography before, maybe I should do that

A New Wharton Study on AI Warns of a Growing Problem: Cognitive Surrender Casual users should pay special attention

This is a mental war that we have to win. It's not about being a luddite, it's about destroying or retaining the ability to think. It's about how insidious this becomes in a situation where generative AI is adopted and then subverted intentionally.

This is a huge victory for the local community and for the historic campaign @ross-greer.bsky.social has built over the last decade.

Itโ€™s not hard to understand why this became one of the biggest environmental campaigns in Scottish history.

A graphic featuring a medieval illustration of a smiling jester from Paris, Bibliotheque nationale de France, MS Francais 2643 (f. 60r). The text reads 'This is a workshop for any medievalist who wants to learn a fun new way to share their expertise. In his book The Comic Toolbox, writer John Vorhaus argues that โ€˜the difference between a class clown and a class nerd is that the class clown tells jokes everyone gets while the class nerd tells jokes that only he gets'. The basic premise of this workshop is: why can't we do both?'

A watercolor painting of a satyr embracing a young man from behind, gently peeling apart the man's flesh on his chest. Birds emerge from the opening in the man's chest. The man reaches one hand to back to caress the satyr's face, the other presses the satyr's hand to his chest. There's some circular celtic knotwork designs on the borders. The overall colors are warm golds and browns.

Finally finished this up! It's done in watercolor, gouache, and color pencils. I know I should try to render it in more detail but I'm not sure I want to. I like the texture being able to be textures. Maybe that will change in the future. For now, though, I like it ๐Ÿ˜…

Desperately looking for anyone in Scotland to foster a 2 year old female cat named Bambi. Incredibly affectionate and friendly. Indoor-only. Whether temporary (a few weeks) or longer term.

She's going to be put to sleep otherwise -- due to a heart issue that won't affect her for another 12 months

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.
