Not Carolina Mudcats but Columbus. The team first adopted the name when they were located in Columbus, Georgia. They tried to move to Raleigh, NC but the Durham Bulls objected so they ended up east of the city in Zebulon. They dubbed themselves “Carolina” so they could keep the existing logo

Did a little research. Nagashima, Yukinobu Kuroe and pitcher Tetsuya Yoneda all homered in the game against the Dodgers that the Showa Emperor attended in 1966 so, no, Yoshida's home run was not the first one witnessed by an Emperor since Nagashima's in 1959

Seems to me that Samurai Japan has a history of playing mediocre MLB guys in the WBC instead of better NPB guys. Like playing Aoki instead of Seiya Suzuki in 2017 and Nootbaar instead of pretty much anyone in 2023
