Thanks for that Matt, it had never even crossed my mind. I did notice some difference in the bill colouration but I never thought of putting 2 & 2 together

Rubbish pic of them but if I remember rightly they numbered around 20. Along with the Lesser black backs who seem to have made a home here

Thornton-le-dale was was the destination, Dipper was the bird atop the list of hopefuls, Nuthatch always appreciated due the seemingly distinct lack of them in East Yorkshire

Yesterday saw the 1st chiffchaff of the year at North cave wetlands.
An Avocet and a pair of Mediterranean gulls amongst the other more notable sightings of the day

Another trip to the North Yorkshire coast saw me finally break my Sanderling (wader) duck for the year. Plus i got to enjoy the Purple sands again. Never gets tiring

Great days birding yesterday at The Outstrays. Six species of geese, endless waders, harriers and short-eared. Topped of with a lovely Scaup pair.
