When Adobe decides to discontinue Animate because they want me to play with their AI tools, that fucks my livelihood.
Anyway yeah. Look Outside feels potentially like a Jacob Geller game. It’s scary and rotten and sweet and so much more than it seems from a surface glance.
These encounters are as likely to be violent as friendly. And as you play you increasingly realize as you gain companions and encounter odd characters, that you should have been leaving your home from the beginning, and you start planning your second play through before you’re even halfway done.
But as you run out of video games to play and food to eat, the need to open the door for others or brave the apartment complex outside becomes increasingly imperative. And when you do, you’re often forced to make contact with deadly creatures that used to be your neighbors.
Dunno if you’ve played Look Outside, but it’s incredible and fits the vibe of this video perfectly. A game that discourages you from leaving the apartment and interacting with people for fear of being consumed or turned to a monster yourself - the only non-threatening option is playing video games.

I dunno what it says about me, but I find playing any game with a good classic arcade style fight stick to be such a pleasure, I often try to make time for it on holidays and vacations etc.
Played through like half of Silent Hill 1 for my partner this way while visiting my parents. It was sublime!

I’ve got my fair share of experience in that department. Was the animation director on a handful of web animated things. Truly the biggest hurdles are organization and communication. But they’re easy if you have a system in place. Lotsa google docs, and yapping at the team over slack or discord.
