it's very funny considering how in visual mediums (movies, TV, comics) the work of writing is considered an afterthought compared to art and direction. Almost cathartic to see a written work be chastised for incorporating visual elements into its writing.

i can understand why some people criticize the 2nd half of House of Leaves bc "it's not even SCARY it's just turning the text upside down as a gimmick." But. My brother in christ do NOT underestimate what thoughtful layout and formatting does for your writing
