25+ years derelict. In Dublin City Council ownership since 2019. No funding from the Department of Housing to rebuild.
The two derelict houses on 19 & 21 Connaught Street have been abandoned by the state. They're now structurally compromised and a risk to the neighbouring houses on the terrace.

More and more people are cycling regularly in Dublin. And people would like to cycle more - but they want to be safe, on cycle lanes that are separated from traffic.
The expansion of 24-hour bus services in Dublin in recent years has been a game changer - giving people more routes home and saving them money.
I think a simple diversion of the 39A night time services would allow even more people in the Blanchardstown area to use the route.

€20bn MetroLink price tag misleading Madam — Your report last week claimed that Dublin’s MetroLink “is expected to cost more than €20bn” (‘Metrolink workers could be housed in pre-fabs, officials suggest’, March 1). The latest cost estimate for MetroLink is around €9.5bn. The higher figure is an unlikely worst-case scenario. It is neither factual nor fair to present it as the expected cost. Facts matter. Quoting a worst case scenario figure as the estimated cost for a project is incredibly damaging for such a vital project. I'm glad they took my letter though!
One of the reasons we have high energy prices is our dispersed grid. One of the reasons we have poor rural public transport is our dispersed population. Leaking septic tanks, loneliness, land use difficulties, the list goes on.
One-off rural housing is a bad idea, and the real costs are socialised.
