You owe it yourself to not be taken in by populist evasions. The inflationary pain ordinary people are about to endure is directly caused by warmongering which we can't control, and a stubborn refusal to transition, which we can control, accelerate, and target.

Hannah Daly: Irish people are again paying a high price for our reliance on fossil fuels But renewable energy relies on resources that will never run out and cannot be cut off as act of aggression

In my @irishtimes.com op-ed today I argue that our climate law is the best framework we have for making energy secure and affordable, because it tackles the root cause of our vulnerability to energy shocks - our dependence on fossil fuels.

Renters: Your landlord cannot add extra charges for bins or parking in the middle of your tenancy. I've heard multiple reports of this from constituents recently.

According to RTB, the law says this is like a rent increase. So max once a year & max 2% increase in rent. 1/2

We don't really have food security. We are rated food secure because we can afford to import food - but we rely on those imports for most of what we eat.

Sinn Fรฉin leader again deliberately conflating carbon tax with the sum total of taxes levied on fuel. In fact, carbon taxes makes up only a small portion of same (which is why we adjusted excise during last crisis).

This is a populist, anti-climate position.

Europe must act on housing, and cities such as Vienna show us how. Today's European Parliament report failed to deliver the ambition needed to tackle speculation and short-term rentals.

As missiles fall on Iran & the Middle East, the ripple effects are hitting kitchen tables in Northern Ireland.

The NI Executive plans heat pump grants by 2027. Oil jumped 14% in a week. Gas surged over 40% in a single day. 179,000 families are in fuel poverty now.

This canโ€™t wait until 2027.

Why would we expand our imports of fossil fuels, when we can see how war makes prices shoot up? Clean, green renewable energy is a better option - for energy independence, for the planet, and for our pockets.

25+ years derelict. In Dublin City Council ownership since 2019. No funding from the Department of Housing to rebuild.

The two derelict houses on 19 & 21 Connaught Street have been abandoned by the state. They're now structurally compromised and a risk to the neighbouring houses on the terrace.

The expansion of 24-hour bus services in Dublin in recent years has been a game changer - giving people more routes home and saving them money.

I think a simple diversion of the 39A night time services would allow even more people in the Blanchardstown area to use the route.

โ‚ฌ20bn MetroLink price tag misleading

Madam โ€” Your report last week claimed that Dublinโ€™s MetroLink โ€œis expected to cost more than โ‚ฌ20bnโ€ (โ€˜Metrolink workers could be housed in pre-fabs, officials suggestโ€™, March 1).

The latest cost estimate for MetroLink is around โ‚ฌ9.5bn. The higher figure is an unlikely worst-case scenario. It is neithยญer factual nor fair to present it as the expected cost. Itโ€™s misleading and confusing and undermines public confidence in a much-needed project.

Facts matter. Quoting a worst case scenario figure as the estimated cost for a project is incredibly damaging for such a vital project. I'm glad they took my letter though!

One of the reasons we have high energy prices is our dispersed grid. One of the reasons we have poor rural public transport is our dispersed population. Leaking septic tanks, loneliness, land use difficulties, the list goes on.

One-off rural housing is a bad idea, and the real costs are socialised.

Do car-free zones hurt disabled people? We asked experts. City planners and advocates are seeing "accessibility used as a political football."

โ€œโ€ฆdisabled people are actually less likely to drive than nondisabled people and more likely to get around by walking and rolling and taking transit. Car-heavy cities are also disproportionately dangerous for disabled folksโ€ฆโ€โ€” @nondriver.bsky.social

Donโ€™t use accessibility โ€œas a political football.โ€
