Yes, we don’t want AI generating fake research, & AI is being misused in terrible ways. But “AI” is a very broad term. What about grammar-checking tools? Machine learning models for data analysis? LLMs for qualitative analysis of large datasets? It’s a complex topic.

As someone who grew up in the 70s in San Diego, when bald eagles were threatened with extinction, I am still in awe every time I see one in my now home of Portland, OR. Today I spotted one on a cell phone tower above the car wash. Lousy cell phone photo seems fitting #birds

It seems like there’s two dimensions: (1) long distance; & (2) high level of comfort/separation from motor vehicles. The name should capture the first dimension, which is unique. The second dimension should be a goal for bike facilities at all scales/locations. (based on 10 minutes of thought)

How to help people go car-free or car-lite? Give them free options for a month, and an incentive to sell their car. 2% of study participants became car-free after given free transit, ebike & carsharing. 13% sold a car later, with $ incentive.
