Both are great, but 2 is far better. You arent missing much playign just 2, as they are self-contained stories. Each one is basically a "what if" that branched off of DQ 1 or DQ 2.

My birthday is next Tuesday and it's absolutely wild that I am inching really close to 40. To clarify: I'll be 39 this year, and 40 next year.

Rewatching the Big Bang Theory the last 2 weeks.

What was up with this Dracula Kid in Super Mario Land 2? He summons Bats by flipping you off but then they don't even go after you, They just fly up and leave. They're more of a side effect to flipping you off than anything else. He probably can't control it, it's just an involuntary Dracula thing
