They talked about it a little bit on the podcast that came out this week, but it was enough to get me to play the first couple of hours of Hell is Us the next day. Yeah. Just instantly a game that deserves way more attention.

Part of the problem, I assume, is that Epic (as a company) and Fortnite (as a game, and as a platform) is going to embrace AI and AI itself is one of the reasons Fortnite is more expensive to run. That's a tough message to explain to people. It also explains why you might not even try.
I tried asking Epic for more information on their "the cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot and weβre raising prices to help pay the billsβ statementβa statement that feels exceptionally out of touch in this economyβand was told the company would not be elaborating.
it does this occasionally. it's all because the tech team vibecodes now.
I *really* hope someone saves that studio.

Three panel comic. Panel 1: a giant squid wearing a yellow Bart t-shirt and some terrible hypebeast shorts is looking in the mirror. It says, βneed groceriesβ¦ but all my clothes are in the laundry.β Panel 2: the squid, now also wearing hot pink crocs, exits its apartment and says, βeh. I wonβt see anyone.β Panel 3: two fisherman are pulling the squid to the surface of the water and pointing at it. An overlayed news caption reads: RARE SQUID SIGHTED - the fit was crazy
On my high horse, if the NYAG really wanted to go after gambling specifically then they'd go after the speculation market, not Valve. And that's not defending Valve in the least.
The NYAG's lawsuit is trying to sneak in some shit about ID verification and violence in games rhetoric, but Valve is also being slimy by admitting here that most payment methods already have age verification but still regularly pull the shit they do with "adult" titles.
The government is asking for public comments on whether banks should be able to deny you from buying legal goods at their own whim (i.e. how they're cracking down on art)
Tell them you don't want to be told how to spend your money

like ignoring everything else about this because both sides are kinda making shit arguments in the actual issue, they snuck that shit in there
curious how they acknowledge the fact payment methods already have age verification built-in but still pulled horses
