HOW DO YOU HARVEST JOY?
I made this illustration from a composite of many submissions.
‘My on-line communities bring me joy. I’ve made many friends through my weekly on-line dance classes and PD support.’

Happy International Women’s Day - yes, women can get Parkinson’s too.
Helping Others Through Art
I work as an Art Teacher in a youth jail. I manage to get them engaged, sometimes quite ably (them not me) in creating Art…This is how I find joy where it is not always obvious.

HARVESTING JOY
A year visiting my local river I’ve synchronised to nature’s rhythms. What started out as a casual acquaintance has blossomed into joyful camaraderie…The rivers become my teacher & helped me overcome many of my PD symptoms

Here’s the website - a work in progress arts4pd.com#/home Wouldn’t it be lovely to have something like this for my PD sisters & brothers in the states?
illustration of a woman with lots of pockets in her dress, and drawings of her children, dog, partner and herself hulahooping around the picture.

We're asking people with Parkinson's: "How do you harvest joy to feel at your best?" Barbara will turn a selection of answers into illustrations for her book, like this, based on a submission from @matteagles.bsky.social: "I take great joy throwing a tennis ball for Luna, my black labrador."
How lovely ❤️🤍💜
Not good. We really need another image instead of just the heart for responses to things like this. Here are a few appropriate options:

WTF!!!???
Mime + Dance = Synergy! I'm grateful to @parkinsoncanada.bsky.social for supporting our community partnership with Dancing with Parkinson's. Me and my co-facilitator, Sarah Martens trained DWP dance teachers how to integrate therapeutic mime into their classes. drive.google.com/file/d/1tcHT...

‘Pockets of joy are things I create to get me through the day. With Parkinson’s it’s minutes, moments. Being really grateful for every little thing that we have.’

Here’s my niece & her dog, Frankie, and my acrylic painting of Frankie.
Sickens me. I will not set foot in the US until human decency & kindness returns, especially by those who have the power.
Here’s my latest acrylic painting of my son in common-law, an avid skateboarder.
Here’s my acrylic painting of ‘Frankie’.
Working on this little acrylic painting of ‘Frankie’.
I wrote to our Somali Community:
"I’ve deep concern by the hateful comments by Trump targeting Somalis.
You’re part of our community. I embrace you as my equals. We are all members of the larger human family.’
In response, the local Somali Executive Director & I met & are now friends.
Thank you 🌷🙏🌷 Wishing you and your loved ones a new year filled with good health, much success and great joy.
