A Flying Mosaic!
Even though Philippe Bruneau called it βun tapis en pierreβ the lozenges of red, black and white create a 3 dimensional illusion of cubes in perspective. The wave band border is reminiscent of earlier pebble mosaics, from tex Makedonia
A Roman marble sculpture of four puppies, all curled up asleep together. Unearthed from the ruins of the House of the Faun in Pompeii, 1st century BCE, now housed at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, Italy
You should add it to your archive and then in 600 years someone might post it on social media, and then someone else will write a PhD on it, then it will be in a documentary. Songs will be written about it, statues erected, streets named. Our love will last FOREVER!!
(Too much? π³)
For those of you who didnβt see this earlier, we received a Valentines Day card from @romanpalace.bsky.social.
Our very first so itβs very special.
We β€οΈ these guys.
It arrived so late we were hoping it would count for next year too? π€π
We refer you to our previous comment.
They're steel toe-capped jelly-shoes.
We're not sure. We're reaching out to @charlixcxofficial.bsky.social for confirmation.
Yep.
Excited to listen to this and learn more about the only historic figure whose name is spelled entirely in Roman numerals.
They will always be chili peppers for us now. Not least because it will drive management nuts.
We'd always assumed it was simply figurative. The leaf/fruit motif appears in quite a few Roman floors. Some at the Palace even!
That makes sense. He visited a while back and talked about meeting archaeologists in Chichester, but not having dug at the Palace (we assumed he'd have mentioned it if he had!).
This makes the Horizon thing look like an unpaid parking ticket.
They did it @butserancientfarm.co.uk and it turned out rather well...

What can we say.... ? It worked! π
We don't think he got involved, but he did visit! π€©
To be fair, that floor is probably the most stable in the North Wing, so they must have got something right!
Did the massive box of chocolates, huge bunch of flowers and actual box of kittens arrive?
Is no mosaic safe??! π±
And let's not forget a shout out to the Palace's social media team for putting out such consistently banging content day after day. π€©
It's a Bobby Dazzler! π€©π€©
He does! Usually when he remembers he needs to be somewhere else.
We'll pass on your compliments as soon as he gets back from the Magistrates' court.
Ooooh! Lovely! π€©
We're guessing that, unlike our mosaic, it wasn't found with a JCB.
