Come on out to Fargo!
I'd love to read that too!
Hey @bowmanspartan.bsky.social and @amperjay.bsky.social this one's for you!
Should be fun. I've never been to Denver. #ICA25
I did once hear that Ron told a bunch of people that I wasn't as dumb as I looked. My all time favorite comment from him
Winter Wonderland
This must be the important piece I add to scientific research.
Useful simile here. It will be making an appearance in my grad theory class this Spring. #NDSUCOMM711
Did you know that Niagara Falls is made up of three waterfalls? Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls. Horseshoe Falls is the largest and most famous!
A prof at a renownedβ’οΈ university reached out once because they were writing a book on communication. They saw I was in a comm dept and was surprised those existed. Asked for a review piece or two to summarize the field. Didn't appreciate me asking if there was one article that summarized their field
I second this
*blush* - oh folks, sincerely thanks for sharing this with me.
I couldn't be at #NCA24 to accept it, but our handbook "Entertainment Media & Communication" was named "Distinguished Book Award" by the Communication and Social Cognition Division. Details: www.degruyter.com/document/doi...
This is the thing I miss most about not being at #NCA2024

#Com peeps: lots of communication doc students here, some attending #NCA24 the 1st time. Whatβs a tip to get lots out of the convention?
Hereβs one: Attend your fave divisionβs business meeting. Youβll meet like-minded peers, connect with informal mentors, and learn if you like their vibe.
I'm not always the most outgoing person, so one that helped me was similar to this. At every panel I went to, I would try to come up with at least one question to ask, then force myself to introduce myself to the speaker and ask the question.
New rule - all scientific conferences are now required to do Hot Ones style panels π₯΅
perfect
There's a baker on this year's Holiday Baking Championship that looks a little like Joe Walther. He is the one I'm rooting for.
Talk to folks in other disciplines about your work. They will ask you new questions that you havenβt had to answer from that angle before. Itβs such good exercise!
Are they really called skeets?
I went into Arcadian last time and will second your description. There was a bachelorette party or something in there at the same we were, and it was nearly impossible to move around. But a place worth checking out!
Good scholars on this list. And me.
Ok. But they probably won't be intelligent things.
Do I have to start posting things now?
