That shit is WILD.
That shit is WILD.
It actually somehow means less to me now that I can Captain America GIF the reference.
It’s been 30 years since I heard it (ex-evangelical), but there’s a line that goes “When He rolled up His sleeves He wasn’t puttin’ on the ritz.”
Ugh, that’s so rough. Try to take care of yourself with all of those big feelings today.
I grew up in evangelical south Georgia. BADLANDS’s depiction of a little sweet guy who doesn’t fit into the culture that raised him, so he has to become something better—well, it fucking did something to me.
Yo that shit about wolves made me cry both times.
I remember being mildly amused but wholeheartedly impressed that super noir hard boiled tuff guy Azzarello could nail a silly Harvey Birdman tone like that.
Excellent choice!
It’s right up there with “Without saying THIR13EEN GHOSTS what’s your favorite movie with Matthew Lillard?”
They always pick an oddball example because I guess that drives engagement by the easily annoyed. (However that probably is my favorite movie with him.)
There’s definitely a drop in quality, but it was still good enough for me to actually finish, unlike say HOMICIDE after maybe season 5.
You’re doing the good lord’s work.
That makes me so sad. The most annoying thing is that there are so many wonderful ways to DM that aren’t remotely like what MM is doing.
Yeah but they rally in that final season like a ma’fucker.
Carter: “You took my advice.”
Morris: “What?”
Carter: “You set the tone.”
Yeah that’s weird. As an old head, I’ll never understand why younger players put DM’ing on such a lofty pedestal now. I don’t feel like I can pin the blame solely on the Matt Mercer effect.
It blows my mind that dungeon mastering has become this aspirational thing that people take years to feel like they’re good enough to achieve. Back in the day, any given player would catch a battlefield promotion if nobody else had the time or inspiration to do it. dndinacastle.com/products/dmu...
I was very late to it, but yeah had no idea it was that seasoned.
Ooh, that books getting a reissue? I only did the audiobook, I need to pick that up.
@comicbookian.bsky.social Yo dog, I’m glad we finally got that single stage bottle episode where they actually show the deposition that’s been teased all season on THE PITT. Oh wait….
Ha ha ha, that is amazing.
I feel like Simon Templar’s intellectual plot armor wears thin in the longer pieces, but THE SAINT has got some incredible short stories.
Oh god, me too. “So bring me to the hand of fate. / The river or the new arcade. / So I can wash the empty hour away.”
The song feels so personal but the scope is positively cinematic. I honestly put it up there with an artistic achievement like FURY ROAD.
Low key sexiest song ever.
Such evocative lyrics too. Contrasting the quotidian “room downtown with bed and a big TV” with the ornate “living in a building like a tooth in heaven’s throat.” Fuuuuuck.
This is probably my favorite song in the last 15 years. Legit stone cold instant classic. Here is definitive proof that, in the right hands, four on the floor can be the saddest music in the world.
I don’t know if it’s pure RNG, but I either curb stomp the Exemplar or I catch a total party wipe.
DARKEST DUNGEON 2 is far from perfect, but it pleasantly resolved most of my complaints about part one.
I won’t defend everything Morrison does, but is Thelema taking splash damage here? That use of the word ‘magic’ is so broad it would include any political leader or tech billionaire that you may disapprove of, kinda like David Icke’s old lizard people head trip (which is problematic itself, sure).
Moore said Morrison ripped off his idea to become a wizard, which is an idea he said came on his 40th birthday. That was Nov. 18, 1993. The INVISIBLES pitch document was date-stamped Oct. 26, 1993. That book was famously based on Morrison’s occult experiences. Moore was definitely wrong about this.
Yeeeah, this episode was definitely after they realized how thirsty everybody was for that foxy boi.
Ooh, I love it.
