Before I wrote this last year I knew a lot about the horrors of dairy but didn't truly know what it means to be a herd animal. We think humans are intensely social, but cows are another level entirely

I think it's pretty much impossible to do dairy farming humanely, but the way we do it seems 1/

We need to grow the economy. We need to stop torching the planet. Here’s how we do both. Let’s fix the two massive efficiency sinks in American life.

When people say "don't force your beliefs on me" what they really mean is "stop making me uncomfortable by reminding me that my entire lifestyle is based on depriving living beings of their personhood and can only be maintained through the systematic abuse and torture of the weak and vulnerable".

A photo of a large black bear laying on the cement patio. He was scooping up the raccoon's food and slowly, very slowly eating it.

The other night we had a bear visit us, looking for food and the encounter left me feeling very sad.
I watched him through the window & saw this beautiful being who had no idea that his life would probably end soon.
The bear hunt starts in December.😞

There is no place for wildlife anymore πŸ’”

People saying how gruesome they find the Charlie Kirk video are inadvertently confessing that they haven't been watching the footage coming out of Gaza for the last two years. I've seen worse shit TODAY and I haven't finished my morning coffee.

Human slavery also "supported livelihoods and the economy."

Perpetual exploitation is not the solution when plant agriculture creates more jobs per acre than beef.

'The Protein PACT' is just an ag industry front group lobbying to keep their violent and unnecessary industry alive.

The life of a dairy cow The surprising truth about milk is hiding in plain sight.

My comic on the life of a dairy cow is out from behind the hard paywall!

I wrote this as a hopefully definitive answer to a question I've gotten for many years: "What's wrong with dairy?"

Once you really see what dairy is, it's like the scales falling from your eyes

The world’s biggest animal cruelty problem, explained in one chart It’s the most invisible β€” and the hardest to solve.

Most people have an inkling that animals have it bad on factory farms and slaughterhouses, but most have no idea that arguably the biggest welfare problem is invisible -- it's the animals' genes: www.vox.com/future-perfe...

Baby orcas get the same media treatment as Palestinian children and police victims.

Their deaths are described passively and headlines are written to obscure the fact that we are starving this population to extinction by damming the rivers and extracting the salmon.

are you against rape because it β€œharms a species chance for survival”? are you so fucking blind you cant see the direct victim of rape? can you not understand how β€œspecies” is an abstrate concept but an individual is someone who is actually capable of being harmed and experiencing suffering?

23.12.2024 12:19 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

you can care about both.
β€œi’m not priviledged enough to care more about black people than white people”
β€œi’m not priviledged enough to care more about women than men”
β€œi’m not priviledged enough to care more about indigenous than portuguese”
basic respect doesnt come from a position of priviledge

21.12.2024 20:57 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

my tone doesnt matter as long as you keep digging for excuses. i say we should respect animals and you come with a different excuse not to everytime. i know when i’m wasting my time. i cant teach you to care.

21.12.2024 20:51 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

i’m gonna stop here because you are clearly dumb as hell and whatever excuse you come up with has already been addressed millions of times

21.12.2024 20:44 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

murder and rape directly harm someone who was murdered and rape. individuals who are victims of actions.

21.12.2024 20:42 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

i’m not arguing if it is healthier or not. i’m saying exploiting someone is immoral. it is very healthy for an ethnical group to enslave another group to do manual labor, but thats not a moral justification.

21.12.2024 20:40 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

ok, now i seesee that you started getting into the excuses and fallacies realm: this is an appeal to nature fallacy. just becaue other animals do so, doesn’t mean we should do so. other animals also kill within their own species, rape and commit infanticide, should we do that because they do?

21.12.2024 20:30 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

and that goes beyond any impact on the market. being vegan when animal exploitation is normalized is no different than being anti-racist when human slavery is normalized. you dont have to expect societal change to stand up for the right thing and reject commodifying others

21.12.2024 20:20 πŸ‘ 5 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

you clearly dont understand what veganism is, thats why you conflate it with consumer activity and climate change. plot twist: it’s not. it’s an ethical stance against animal exploitation. your confusion is also why you are talking about meat when we are talking about animal exploitation

21.12.2024 20:16 πŸ‘ 10 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

ok, next time a farm is raided or a lab is burned to the ground lets make sure we leave some brochures behind

ALF actions have closed mink farms for good. you cant say direct actions arent achieving anything. they liberate victims and they show resisance to oppression by all means necessary. you could argue thar vegan education hasnt achieved much other than plant based options
