How climate change is impacting drinking water in the US
Climate change is making access to drinkable water more difficult in the United States.
I had a great time talking with @zialyle.bsky.social &
@costasamaras.com about their new study on how climate change poses risks to U.S. drinking water.
Water utilities for roughly a fifth of the U.S. population are at high risk from climate hazards.

Big banks predict catastrophic warming, with profit potential
Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan and an international banking group have quietly concluded that climate change will likely exceed the Paris Agreement's 2 degree
βWe now expect a 3Β°C world,β Morgan Stanley analysts wrote earlier this month. They predicted this would be good for air conditioning stocks. Something it would not be good for? Life on Earth. www.eenews.net/articles/big...

Map 1. Proportion of businesses that experienced monetary loss because of extreme weather, by metro area
Roughly 9.8% of employer businesses were financially impacted by extreme weather in 2022. In some cities like New Orleans, close to 50% were impacted. Why aren't more business leaders calling for stronger adaptation policy???

Happy 400th birthday to the worldβs oldest bond
π
Everything about this is perfect: a local Dutch water authority (Hoogheemraadschap De Stichtse Rijnlanden) is still paying β¬13.61 a year to the bearer of this bond, which was floated to reconstruct a damaged dike in 1624. The bearer is the New York Stock Exchange.
