IF SOMEONE ASKS WHY WE'RE PROTESTING IN SCOTLAND WHEN WE HAVE ADP: • While many of the Cuts are to PIP, some also affect things like universal credit which will directly affect Scots The PIP cuts will have a knock-on effect in the Barnett consequentials, meaning Scotland will get less money because of the decisions made in England. We already spend millions out of the block grant trying to protect people from Westminster cuts and every new one makes it harder • The rhetoric being used to justify these cuts affects all of us, twisting public opinion and exacerbating stigma, discrimination and hate towards us • And we are also protesting in solidarity with our community south of the border

While I process the announcement today by UK Labour Govt r.e. cuts to disability payments, I want to be clear on a few things.
1. Disabled people live with a payment penalty: being disabled costs more. These proposed changes will entrench this inequality further.

It's also an awful day for disabled people in the UK. As I feared, the UK government has responded to protest by narrowing the focus of its planned cuts to target those whose conditions are least well understood and who have the least ability to stand up for themselves. #disability
