it's been a minute since I've finished a new comic segment. Life gets busy some times. I'm always excited when the minutes add up and I'm able to call one doneπ Please enjoy this thought, and happy Friday!

you know in an RPG, how you select the silliest option in the dialogue menu first-
does that explain why this timeline is the way it is?
is this the cycle where the universe selects for amusement
Made an interactive exhibit with multiple Robot Butterflies. Plus a projector and Kinect! Linked robots up to a MQTT server running on a Pi with a lil router. Bowie's power pack was recycled into that project. Here's a walkthrough to prove it happened in real reality! www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7lI...
the hungry flower is doing! As of the beginning of this week I successfully got her flapping, spinning, and glowing without any added slop or grind! The whole process felt good and right again. I'm beyond grateful for thatπ±
I edited a short update with the details:
#robotics
I have written a quick update on Patreon about the growth of the flower robot. The child can now flap insistently and SPIN in place to express increased urgency. My posts are open to everyone! I hope you enjoy your smokey Tuesday!

Flower continues to grow! I decided to try using a rack and pinion + baby servo to drive the petal motion and it works pretty well for a first go π»
#robotics
I made another quick update post on Patreon regarding the development of my latest robot flower. I've changed everything since the previous weekend. That's how design iteration goes sometimes. As always, my posts are open for everyone to view if you wanna see how the little one has grown

I love it. π
An illustrated comic of three humans garbed in bed sheets and crowns made from long feather-like leaves. Arms outstretched in offering to the crescent moon, devoured watermelon rinds also in the same crescent shape. They celebrate the middle of summer by enjoying fruit.
Midsummer is upon us. May we all find something sticky and delicious to adorn our skin with this weekπ

a large hornworm caterpillar lays in the palm of a hand while clinging to a tiny branch. Their front feet arched upward in the sphinx position as if praying.
The way to win at hide and seek with grubby is to become very still. Then you'll notice the leafs that are wiggling and twitching. The twitchy leafs almost always have grubby underneath them. They stir in a way that couldn't be the wind
A thick fully grown caterpillar clings to the middle of a half eaten leaf. Their long black hash lines shade their back, filling in the space between their white diagonal markings
I knew they were there. I saw them last night. They were clinging to a bare branch of the pumpkin tree. just an inconspicuous pickle amongst bright orange fruit. I told them I'd come back for them in the morning, hoping they wouldn't eat the remaining leaves of the tree over night. It was a gamble.
I drew some doodles and offer them here for you. My intention is to brighten the morning with amusement or thought. a story continues:

Back in 2022 we played a lot of Elden Ring. That was also the year Mark and I undertook constructing a large greenhouse to sustain a hundred tomato saplings and other flora. These two experiences took on a shared meaning. I became a gardener and a tomato plant helped me growπ
#gardening
If you need to cleanse the morning, I offer this mellow slice of garden life as company. This is some video of Mark and I undergoing the tenuous process of transplanting a lengthy teenaged tomato plant out of a heavy pot and into a planter box (spoiler: everything worked out alright) π±
#gardening
thank you π it is my favorite place
I offer you this low impact, extra chill video of Mark and I doing maintenance in the greenhouse. Just us doing tomato stuff with the cat, if you need something to reset your nervous systemπ

Behold Mark's pickle plantπ±
it's awesome that we live on a planet that provides everything we need freely
healthy distraction: tomatoes birthing tomatoes
a tiny horn worm hangs up-side-down on a tomato leaf. its spike sticking out sharply tangent to its body. In proportion, a gigantic human hand is cupped around the worm, blurred but visible in the background for scale
BEHOLD
I offer these drawings to you on this Tuesday afternoon! I hope they bring you joy, or peace, or amusement π±

my latest comic segment and thoughts to consider:
We had a few stormy days here in the desert and the plants loved it. They decided to grow lots of new leafs and blossoms to celebrate being here :)
To spite it all, the tree still blossoms
an offering of greenhouse moments to help ease into the week π±
Great conversation between Simon Mundie, author, speaker, BBC presenter and interviewer, and @bernardokastrup.bsky.social whose body of work does not require an introduction anymore, and speaks for itself:

I really hope so. It feels out of character, but I've never had or been a cat before
