I own the first books of several fantasy series. Pratchett’s ‘The Color of Magic,’ Sanderson’s ‘Mistborn,’ Hobb’s ‘Assassin’s Apprentice,’ Sapkowski’s ‘The Last Wish’.

Mystery too. Atkinson’s ‘Case Histories,’ French’s ‘Blue Monday,’ Locke’s ‘Bluebird, Bluebird’

Just gotta dive in somewhere, haha

That makes sense. It’s been a while since I got into a series. I think I get commitment anxiety with long series, so it keeps me from starting them, haha. I do the same thing with multi-season TV shows; I’m much more likely to reach for a film or even a miniseries

3. ‘Wise Blood’ is a pretty good time; if you like her short stories, I think you’ll like the novel. There’s a film adaptation starring Brad Dourif as Hazel Motes that’s worth a watch as well

Something I’ve learned about myself as I’ve gotten older is that I have a tendency to be very precious choosing what media I consume and when. That is, I get hung up on the idea of waiting until the “perfect moment” to engage with a book/movie/show/album I’m interested in

To my fellow people who have massive TBRs: I’m curious, how do y’all decide what you’re gonna read next? Do you pull a title out of a jar? Do you try to follow a theme? Do you just go off your gut?
