haven't run across anything like that. closest I know of are my wife's historical cooking and farming books. that stuff is dry

she's always watching those BBC shows about war-time farming, Edwardian farming, and the like

gotcha. the only nonfiction I have on my shelves is from my old master's thesis: bunch of books on working in emergency medicine or being a first responder

if that's your thing, I got one hell of a list

but I know what you mean. I like my reads to be unsettling and a lot of newer stuff I've picked up doesn't have any bite

I don't know how new you're looking in reads, but 2018's "out behind the barn" by Boden was a beautiful read
