The UK government didn't want you to see this report on ecosystem collapse. I'm not surprised | George Monbiot It took an FOI request to bring this national security assessment to light. For β€˜doomsayers’ like us, it is the ultimate vindication, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Please spread this far and wide, as stories don't get much bigger than this. When the government blocks even the intelligence services from telling us we're heading for environmental catastrophe, you know we have a problem. A very big problem.
Thank you.

The final two first edition hardbacks of my novel 1983 that I have in my house.

Two cut-out linoprint hares by my mum, Jo. This is a hare linoprint which she originally did to illustrate a chapter in my earlier (non-fiction) book, Ring The Hill, which has a hare subtheme darting through it.

I thought it might be nice to give away my last 2 signed hardbacks of my novel 1983, with two lovely linocut hares by my mum.

All you have to do to enter is repost this (& leave a reply).

The book's been called "Stranger Things rewritten by Kurt Vonnegut and Sue Townsend”.
Extract in the replies.

Astonishing advance by the Greens, astonishing implosion of Labour. When will Starmer's government get the message that it is destroying its base with deeply unpopular, rightwing policies?

By chasing Reform, it legitimises the far right while delegitimising itself.

Hmm, I've just unsubscribed after about 20 years πŸ˜”. The fruit guy is very good but otherwise it's just the same old recycled content. Looking for a genuinely innovative/practical alternative but yet to find anything!

I'm not sure the skipper sightings have been very good this year so you'd have been lucky to see two together πŸ™‚. Still, always nice to see a Speckledy!

Attempt to protect rare chalk streams in planning bill rejected by Labour MPs Government vetoes cross-party effort to protect threatened waterways from push to rip up environmental red tape

β€œ[Chalk streams] are globally significant ecosystems and are largely restricted to our shores. So we have a huge responsibility to protect them.”

Really disappointing for this amendment I moved in the Planning & Infrastructure Bill Committee to be vetoed.
