We are now recruiting for a teacher of Geography.
The department is in good shape, we cover Geography from N3 to H and continue to push to get an AH class. We also deliver travel and tourism the NPA Climate Change and Sustainability course.
Best of luck with your application.

Why scour the internet for ages and not find the right diagram you need? Time taken to plan out how intend on communicating with diagrams. Have recycled these from class use to go into our new revision materials. #geographyteacher #diagrams #teaching #geomorphology #geography

#nationalgeography working on the formation of glacial landscapes.
Using our 3D models and playdoh the first step was to recreate a glacial landscape and compare this to modern day glacial locations. Explaining how the landscapes form is the next step #geographyteacher #glacier

The central Baazar that leads down from the central gate. That was some shopping trip with a school group. My 360 vision was put to the test there.
Working with S1 building their understanding of features of glacial erosion through modelling using #playdoh.
I explained the etymology behind the features. We used the Gaelic โsronโmeaning โnoseโ to look at arรชtes. They used our 3D OS tiles to feel for arรชtes and then feel their nose.

Some old fashioned flick book approach with the #nationalgeography who were looking at developments on the urban fringe. Armed with a photo of the south gyle area of Edinburgh they compared this to a modern day image and identified the changes, evaluating +/- factors. #geochat #geographyteacher

I wondered why I wasnโt seeing any posts. A great shame as they certainly made the tour that little bit more special. I really enjoyed your explanation of the geology of each stage.
Thank you to the award winning @theislandgeogr.bsky.social to support outdoor learning. The S3 classes have been out over the past 10 days collecting information on our local urban environment. This will give them a dummy run at how to write up coursework. #geographyteacher
A lot of hard work but that us ready to roll with the incoming #nationalgeography classes. This will take us up to end of September. Our use of booklets has grown and the content evolved over time. Making the most of study leave. #geographyteacher #geogchat

There is almost no chance now of saving the Greenland Ice Sheet, nor the West Antarctic Ice Sheet for that matter
This locks-in a ~12m sea level rise, which will eventually drown every coastal town and city
But do our 'leaders' care - do they even know?

Building teamwork / sense of empathy with S2 Geographers as they began to examine the issues garment workers face. This week we looked at the issues of pay and began to get a sense of the scale of the issues garment workers face in meeting a minimum living standard.

Building up some place knowledge and building mapskills with S3. This was one of the opening tasks in our new #China unit which samples themes in the #nationalgeography course (weather/climate/population and food production).

โ๏ธAsked ChatGPT to "draw a picture of a subduction zone".
Some absolutely fantastic stuff in here... the more you look the better it gets. Gonna show this to my intro class and have them list "ten things wrong" with this picture.

Before feedback was given, this was my initial reading of a scaffolded meander response from S3 and pitched at N5.
The next step after this is to look at ox-bows and repeat but without the scaffold.

Quick reminder - there are over 200 free to download fieldwork resources on my site - with lots of #geographyteacher s now on this platform, let's try to rebuild a community of resource sharers!

Scaffolding / sequencing in the S3 BGE.
After securing knowledge of erosion processes + characteristics within a meander (ie why they meander, what processes occurs). I gave them sequenced information to sort. We reviewed and wrote up using N5 criteria, prepping for S4.
