It didn’t look like that in the stadium. It looked like he didn’t want the substitution to encroach on his time. It was odd. I mean, do players “allow substitutions to take place”.
At the Amex the other night, Rice was walking slowly from the centre of the pitch to take a corner. The ref signalled for a substitution. Rice saw this, stopped, and started adjusting socks and shorts till the substitution was done. Then carried on his slow walk to the corner. It’s all bizarre.
