I love stories where each new perspective unpeels everything you thought you knew and Hirokazu Kore-eda's Monster does that masterfully. Such an achingly beautiful film that treats its characters with immense sensitivity.

Book on a coffee table. The book is Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-Reum and translated into English by Shanna Tan.
Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop was a bittersweet joy to read. I felt like I could be reading about myself and my friends, the concerns haunting the characters were all too familiar. I wish I had this bookshop in my neighbourhood, seems like a rad place to hang out.

The key points are “The Culture War is a right wing project to attack freedom of speech by demonising and delegitimising left wing ideas disguised as a defence of it” and “For several decades now, this has relied on taking the most extreme thing some random has (or in most cases hasn't) said to paint the left as a bunch of weirdos that will get you arrested for asking for black coffee, instead of people who want to improve society somewhat”.
