Yesterday I was telling Aaron over dinner that I had been looking up and reserving some new books based on new releases. I told him I look up authors I like and find out if they have new books. Aaron: So look up Jarod Rosello to see if the new book is out. 😀

Hey! Scholars! If you're using someone's work in your class, sometimes it's nice to email them and tell them, because then they might feel good about their research instead of entirely crushed by the academic humanities' ongoing descent into the grave
A5. This decreased my anxiety over how much time it really took to do all the stuff associated with job applications. Not to say it wasn't still hard. Still, it helped to shift focus away from things I could not control (where jobs were, getting a job) until it was time to think about those things.
A5. Late to this #literacies chat but 1 thing that helped me was reframing the activities (material creation, interviews) as definitional work. Reframing the process as an opportunity to refine how I wrote and talked about my scholarship meant it was time well spent whether I got the job or not.
I have never been great at being crafty or creating an atmosphere as a host but suddenly my son (almost 8) wants to have a birthday party (1st time he has wanted one) with a space theme and I'm obsessed with plates that look like planets and astronaut balloons.
Despite the limitations of the term 'bereavement leave', I'm so pleased the #EmploymentRightsAct at the very end of 2025 means #pregnancy ending before 24-week viability for any reason now entitles people to leave from work. #pregnancyloss #miscarriage #abortion #TOPFA #TFMR
Bereavement leave acknowledges someone’s loss of a baby. When only sick leave is accessible, we ignore the grief people experience. Glad to see some local change.
I really love all of Kate Morton’s books and The House at Riverton was my fav. A little bit of family drama meets mystery. I was completely absorbed by each book.
JoLLE calls are still open for one more month! Submit your work today and add to the conversation. 🤝❤️🖤
Thank you so much, Marita!
We have to do a better job supporting teachers at work following a miscarriage. For more on the layered pressures they face, see this article in AERA Open, "The Influence of Policies and Professional Expectations on Teachers' Leave Decisions and Well-Being ..."

The thing is … people unfortunately and unforgivably do not care. I do not know why.
Is there an #NCTE25 app?!
This semester has been 🗑️ at work and really stressful for me personally bc I am worried about my kid. But you know what? One thing that always makes me feel good is receiving and giving updates back and forth with teachers I've interviewed. No matter what the future holds, I'm so grateful for it. 🌻
I read Uniquely Human at your suggestion and liked it a lot!
Hey #literacies friends. I am headed to #ncte25. Very excited to be back in Denver. During aera, I took an inexpensive Lyft to Red Rocks if you are looking for a few hours to clear your mind! Highly recommend.
Yeah … no. They will not put up with certain things at all. Solidarity.
never fear! one day. :)
Recognising pregnancy loss as a workplace issue and in working lives is essential, writes Professor @keelinodonoghue.bsky.social in today's @irishexaminer.bsky.social

oh my gosh ... @kelseyfrancis.bsky.social are you going this year!?
Just starting to orient myself toward #NCTE25 and suddenly remembered how last year I got to sit about 10 feet from Ada Limon while she read poems to me. 🤓🌻
So much gratitude to the GSB Homecoming Planning Committee for inviting us back to guest host tonight. Let us know how else we can support the efforts chatted about tonight. As you could see, there’s lots of love for #literacies chat! We’re here to support the team!
I think it would be good! 8 PM is also a hard time for me as a parent. No time is great for everyone. Slow chat opens up asynchronous participation. #literacies
I'm sure you of anyone can understand, but sometimes a focus on literacy teachers and their lives isn't seen as literacies ...
@deroomat.bsky.social we were friends anyway but I feel like our #literacies twitter chats spurred the Early Career Cohort we co-lead with NCTEAR. Strengthened our friendship and sparked the idea for how we wanted to serve the community.
So much same! I still don't always feel like a #literacies scholar in the "right" way. Yet the online space was a way for me to get to know people's work in a deeper way and feel more included.
Likewise!!
