Don’t get me wrong, Manuel Neuer will go down as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time… but his performances have steadily declined in since his metatarsal fractures back in 2017. Bayern have a luxury of not needing to depend on gk performances often, but the leniency Neuer has is surprising.
Bayern are reportedly in on Jonas Urbig (FC Köln), who is 2nd on my list of U23 goalkeepers in Germany and probably in my top 15 U23 gks globally. Would really worry about his development if he isn’t loaned, as Bayern are already stalling the career of Daniel Peretz thanks to a past-his-prime Neuer

Beyond the embarrassing lack of ambition from Dortmund, you have to question if their low target of success is still too high? The resources are there to do more, but the coaching and recruitment leaves so much to be desired.

I would imagine the hope is to start a multi-year transition of Alisson to a cup-type role rather than starter, with Kelleher leaving. Alisson isn’t that old yet but he has plenty of minutes and plenty of injuries on him that “age” him a bit.
Inspired by the work of Fabian Otte and the teachings of Hans Leitert, I looked at the 661 chances through the first 8 Bundesliga matchdays to look at shot difficulty and how it impacts the chances of a shot being held. With just 30% held, should it change our perception GK handling? (1/2)
