Uzuni just cannot find the game when Austin has possession of the ball. He can’t move any direction than vertically towards the opponents goal. He is not an outlet for a forward pass checking back to the ball. That means he never creates for Nelson or Torres to run in behind.
Probably wont have time for a rewatch this week but im quite confident it would just be clips of Uzuni standing still and Rosales being so one-footed he can’t progress the ball down the left hand side of the field at all. bsky.app/profile/socc...
Austin’s problem mostly boils down to the ineffectiveness of the left side and Uzuni’s inability to hold the ball and create space for others to run behind him.
Get a real right wing and someone dynamic up top and this game looks radically different.

For sure, plenty of players keep improving and maturing (especially in areas of the game like chance creation) well beyond 25. No reason to suspect he reached his ceiling the last time he was in MLS, at 22/23.
