Part of the problem is that Eze isn’t a natural ball progresser, and we no longer play with a Cala/MLS type left back who can help carry the ball in central areas.

Is it time to reconsider the rate with which we try to play out from the back? I can’t recall the last time it’s worked well for us, and all PL teams are well prepared to stop it. Passing around the back has led to many mistakes this season, and it’s no longer the superpower it used to be.
To leave this game with potential injury question marks around Trossard and Cala is disgraceful. We needed to get some quick goals early on and then coast. Lack of finishing quality from some of our forwards made that impossible. We press on.

That’s fair. I thought there were opportunities in the last 19’ to give someone like Zubi, Timber, Saka, or Hincapié a rest and offering a bit more stability
Interesting. I think two things happened: players switched off (forgivable, given the circumstances and scoreline); and the manager didn’t bring on fresh legs where they were needed (unforgivable, IMO)
I do wonder if fans would feel differently about this game had our decision-making in front of goal been better in that first half
