Winter in Japan is coming to an end. This year saw record-breaking snowfall, likely reported worldwide. However, it didn’t feel like much since the heavy snow lasted only a short time. It was a strange year.
Still, those fleeting moments created beautiful landscapes, and glad I took them in photos.

Spirit Falls in the Pacific Northwest blanketed in snow.

I’m thinking that we’ve seen the last of major snow here in the Pacific Northwest where I live. So today I’m sharing an image from a few years ago of one of my favorite waterfalls blanketed in a foot of fresh powder. Hiking in and out of here was a treat that day being the first ones on this trail.

Water plunges over a moss-covered ledge, makes contact with moss-covered rock, and then hugs the rock down to the pool below. Small rocks occupy the immediate foreground of the image.

This waterfall had some of the most interesting moss I’d seen since it covered the side of the ledge above the plunge.
