I have a theory on this. I think it might be because the Republican base, for the most part, does not understand the stock market. They don’t invest in stocks, can’t afford to invest in stocks, and don’t know what stocks are. They have no idea what “points” are vis-a-vis the value of a market index.

When people are afraid to go to work, afraid to shop, or afraid to gather in their community, it hurts families, neighborhoods, and our entire economy.
