Love the intentionality of the article and underlying report in the language used to center those discriminated against (anti-Muslim) as well as the active expressions of racism vs passive “phobia”

Not sure what vpn y’all trying to use on Apple TV but Nord works just fine as an app on mine. French and British broadcasts no issue. No jailbreaking required.
I believe Sven speaks all three languages but him commenting in each of them feels it would be a throwback to some of the contests in the 60s where every word from the host was in French, English and host language.
Recognising the pedantism, but Sven Epiney is the commentator for the German-language broadcast of ESC. The French and Italian broadcasts have separate commentary.
In CH we already have super high fuel prices, but once you have enough money it just doesn’t matter. Geneva has some of the highest concentrations of Land Rover ownership anywhere.
Would argue that an income-indexed system would be far more equitable. Geneva recently went towards an emission centred formula for vehicle registration. Great in theory, but not when you have minivans from the 90s that cost 4500chf to register annually vs new Teslas that cost 200chf.
As soon as you verge into car-only spaces though, the entitlement in DE really comes out. Worst tailgaters in Europe.
Banger SVP!
Inner/outer circles at Sandpoint country club would be great if you could get in.
Bien fait Genève ! C’est un projet tout à fait nécessaire pour une ville durable. Espérons juste que les parkings privés ne remplaceront pas nos logements ou petits commerces.
As a former Seattleite, I feel like the equivalent story would have a hell and brimstone headline hand-written by any of the neighborhood or downtown chambers, or perhaps by a community council. Not a chance that @seattledot.bsky.social would get quoted first and car lobby only after the fold.
Love that not only has Geneva reduced parking in the public right-of-way by over 13%in the last decade, but that the local news media is basically taking sides that it’s a good thing.

So cool to see cutting edge projects here in Geneva. C’est vraiment une inspiration de découvrir un projet telle différent caché dans nos quartiers ici à Genève.
Thank you so much for the clarification! Fingers crossed they update the code soon. Moved from a single to a multiple aspect last year and it’s amazing how much easier it is to keep things cool with a crossbreeze. So much more rare when you have to have a central hallway
I can see how that makes sense if the building is wood frame but am I correct in assuming there’s no alternatives for construction with fire resistant materials like concrete and masonry?
Can you explain direct suite access from landing? It just seems so intuitive to me that I can’t envision why you wouldn’t have this and why it would have been outlawed in code to begin with. (Tried googling but I don’t have the vocab to get helpful results)
Not to mention that the Scottish tenements are generally individually owned flats, allowing for home ownership with a more affordable entry point and a lot smaller footprint than a standalone house.
The only city in Europe I can think of that is both car free and “decadent amusement park for foreigners” is Venice. And I think it’s kind of obvious why no cars there.
Certainly better than driving in Lyon. Absolutely crazy engineering happening there. Signage either nonexistent, way too late, or wayyy too much information crammed on one sign to be able to process.
I think it depends on what kind of pets and in which circumstances? We regularly have dogs and cats on our public transit here in Geneva. Have to pay an additional reduced fare once you can’t carry the animal, but much cheaper than driving and then finding parking.
En Suisse on parle souvent sur la bruit autoroutière, mais je me demande si on aurions le même résultat que Paris si nous baissions la vitesse de 120 à 100 km/h?
Top five podcasts: Shrimp and Crits, Data Over Dogma, Wittenberg to Westphalia, Monster Hour, the EuroWhat
Yes. I have very specific taste in podcasts. Probably the #1 listener in 🇨🇭for @shrimpandcrits.com @monsterhourpod.bsky.social @eurowhat.bsky.social
Guy traded in his moped for 8 bikes: “(the moped) was practical, yes, but it was dangerous, solitary, noisy, and polluting” . While 8 is excessive, definitely prefer quiet e-bikes to loud scooters. And at least he admits he’s bobo 🤣
If there’s a Doctor Who tie-in there somewhere, I’m sold
When you’re paying 1200 monthly per bedroom you kind of expect an elevator 😂
Easily a 20% rent premium here in CH for transversal units allowing a crossbreeze.
I get a mobility benefit. Can be used for car, transit pass or home office improvements. Love only having to buy a bus pass once a year!
J’ai hâte de lire cette édition, au moins d’améliorer mon capacité de parler sur l’urbanisme en français. Je trouve que le vocabulaire d’urbanisme en anglais a beaucoup de schibboleths et j’attends que français sera similaire si pas pire
Simplified HOA protocols? Higher quality soundproofing standards? Reduced parking requirements?
